Google Local Services Ads to Require Google Business Profile Starting November 2024

Google recently announced an important update for businesses using Google Local Services Ads (LSA).

Beginning November 21, 2024, a matching Google Business Profile (GBP) will be mandatory for ads to continue appearing in search results and showing customer reviews.

Google’s notice highlights that businesses without a GBP linked to their Local Services Ads will have their ads paused.

This change means that the Google Business Profile will now be the primary source of information and customer reviews for LSAs.

Businesses need to ensure that their GBP name and address match their LSA details to avoid disruptions.

Ben Fisher, an expert who first spotted this update, emphasized that reviews will soon be entirely managed through GBP.

Google confirmed that new reviews will be managed from GBP starting in November, with all existing reviews transitioning by early 2025.
